My waking hours are defined by a remarkable amount of work at the Statehouse in Montpelier. Even more remarkable and fulfilling are my many communications via e-mail and telephone about the issues with many South Burlington constituents and other concerned citizens across the state.
Realistically, “unspoken-for-time” is rare now that the Legislature is in session. I nonetheless make it a point to fit events into my schedule whenever possible. Here is a sampling.
- Once a month, I participate in the legislative forum hosted by LCRCC/GBIC.
- Once a month, I participate in the legislative forum hosted by the SB School Board and City Council.
- Once a month, I participate in the legislative forum hosted by the four of us who compose the SB delegation to the Vermont House.
- Saturday morning, I am available at “my” table for constituents at Trader Duke’s from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
There are also some events which do not occur with regularity. br>
For instance…
- A legislative forum hosted by KidSafe on January 28.
- A talk with the Young Democrats of America group at SBHS on February 14.
- A legislative forum with the educators of the Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma on February 16.
All this could be exhausting! But I find the work of a legislator to be absolutely exhilarating and a tremendous opportunity to try my best to do good things for people!
